The Railbikes on the Noyo experience offers an immersive journey into Northern California’s famed redwood ecosystem, where visitors pedal custom-built electric-assist railbikes along a historic railway carved through dense forest and river canyon landscapes. Designed for two riders, the quiet, motor-assisted bikes glide over tracks that once supported the timber industry, now repurposed for eco-conscious recreation. Along the 25-mile roundtrip route, riders cross wooden trestle bridges and travel alongside a winding river, surrounded by towering old-growth trees and abundant wildlife. The adventure begins with a descent through forested terrain to reach the tracks, adding a sense of anticipation before the ride even begins.

Midway through the excursion, riders pause at a secluded riverside camp nestled deep within the redwoods, where a picnic and time to relax, swim, or explore enhance the experience. The route follows a segment of the historic Redwood Route, originally built in the 19th century, preserving both the cultural legacy and natural beauty of the region. Operating year-round and guided by knowledgeable staff, this experience combines outdoor adventure, scenic tranquility, and historical storytelling, making it one of the most distinctive ways to explore California’s coastal forests.
