The Cowpens National Battlefield preserves the site of a decisive American victory during the Revolutionary War. On January 17, 1781, Brigadier General Daniel Morgan led a strategic double envelopment against British forces under Banastre Tarleton, turning the tide of the Southern campaign. Today, the battlefield remains largely unchanged, allowing visitors to walk the same terrain where Continental soldiers and militia clashed with British regulars. Interpretive trails, monuments, and a visitor center with exhibits and a short film provide context to the battle’s tactics and significance.

Managed by the National Park Service, the site offers a blend of historical education and natural beauty. The 1.25-mile Battlefield Trail loops through open fields and wooded areas, while the auto loop provides access to key landmarks. Ranger programs, living history events, and Junior Ranger activities engage visitors of all ages. Whether you're a history enthusiast or a casual traveler, Cowpens offers a powerful glimpse into the struggle for independence and the landscape that shaped it.
