The United States Botanic Garden is a vibrant living museum that showcases the beauty and importance of plants from around the world. Located on the National Mall, the garden includes the historic glass-domed Conservatory, the outdoor National Garden, and Bartholdi Park. Inside the Conservatory, visitors can explore themed rooms such as the Tropics, World Deserts, and the Orchid House, which features hundreds of blooming specimens from a collection of over 5,000 orchids. The garden also highlights rare and endangered plants, sustainable gardening practices, and seasonal exhibits like the popular “Season’s Greenings” holiday display.

Established in 1820 and in continuous operation since 1850, the U.S. Botanic Garden is one of the oldest botanic gardens in North America. Its mission is to educate the public about the role of plants in supporting Earth’s ecosystems and human well-being. The National Garden features native Mid-Atlantic plants, a rose garden, and the First Ladies Water Garden, while Bartholdi Park offers a peaceful retreat with shaded benches and a historic fountain. With free admission and year-round access, the Botanic Garden is a must-visit destination for nature lovers, families, and anyone seeking a moment of tranquility in the heart of the capital.
