How to Get There

From Denver (72 mi): Take I-70 west from Denver through the mountains, exit at Frisco (Exit 201 or 203), and follow signs into downtown and Main Street.

Overview

Frisco is a community located in Colorado and is a popular town among skiers from around the world. Four major ski resorts are located in close proximity to Frisco: Copper Mountain, Breckenridge, Keystone, and Arapahoe Basin.

Founded in 1873, Frisco was built because of the Colorado Silver Boom, which began in 1879. Frisco was incorporated in 1880. The town is named after the popular Frisco Lines Railroad in hopes of it bringing the rail line to the town.

Frisco is located along the coast Lake Dillon, a reservoir constructed between 1961 and 1963 that now covers the original town of Dillon. Across the water to the east are the new town of Dillon, Silverthorne, and Keystone. To the southeast is Breckenridge.

One of Frisco's most popular hikes, the Mount Royal Trail climbs steeply above town to spectacular overlooks of Frisco, Dillon Reservoir, and the surrounding mountain ranges. The panoramic summit views are among the best in Summit County.

Rainbow Lake Trail

Elevation Gain: Approximately 450 feet
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate

This family-friendly trail climbs through forests to scenic Rainbow Lake. The route offers beautiful views, seasonal wildflowers, and opportunities for wildlife viewing close to town.

Lily Pad Lake Trail

Length: Approximately 3.3 miles round trip
Elevation Gain: Approximately 600 feet
Difficulty: Moderate

A local favorite, this trail passes through aspen groves and evergreen forests before reaching a picturesque mountain lake. The hike is especially popular during summer wildflower season and autumn foliage season.
