General Information
Overview
Gulf Islands National Seashore protects barrier islands and coast along the Gulf of Mexico in Florida and Mississippi, with sparkling white quartz sand beaches, historic forts, bayous, and nature trails. It was authorized in 1971 and is managed by the National Park Service, and a 4,080-acre Gulf Islands Wilderness in Mississippi was designated in 1978.

Mississippi Areas
