Overview

The Mabel Dodge Luhan House ("the Big House") was built in 1917-22 in Pueblo style by wealthy patron Mabel Dodge Luhan, who used it as an artistic salon that drew D. H. Lawrence, Georgia O'Keeffe, Ansel Adams, Willa Cather, and others. It is a National Historic Landmark (1991), and actor Dennis Hopper once owned it. It is now a bed-and-breakfast and conference center with an educational focus, and offers tours when it is not full.
