The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is the world’s largest hot air balloon festival, held annually in early October. With over 500 balloons ascending into the crisp New Mexico sky, the event transforms the 365-acre Balloon Fiesta Park into a kaleidoscope of color and sound. Visitors can walk among the balloons, meet pilots, and witness breathtaking spectacles like the Dawn Patrol, Mass Ascensions, and the Special Shape Rodeo. The event also features the Glowdeo, where balloons light up the night sky, and concludes with dazzling fireworks displays.

Founded in 1972 with just 13 balloons, the Fiesta has grown into a global phenomenon attracting hundreds of thousands of spectators. Beyond ballooning, the festival offers live music, artisan markets, chainsaw carving exhibitions, and local cuisine including New Mexico’s famous breakfast burritos. The event is deeply rooted in Albuquerque’s culture and economy, drawing international participants and fostering a sense of wonder and community. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a seasoned enthusiast, the Balloon Fiesta offers an unforgettable experience of flight, festivity, and fall enchantment.
