Overview

Tenaya Lake is a glacier-carved alpine lake at 8,150 feet on Tioga Road between Yosemite Valley and Tuolumne Meadows, ringed by polished granite domes, with a sandy beach for wading and swimming in chilly water, and kayaking and canoeing in summer. It is named for Chief Tenaya, and the road is open only in the warm months, typically late May through October or November.
