Overview

The Loomis Museum near Manzanita Lake at Lassen’s northwest entrance is a 1927 stone visitor center built by photographer Benjamin Loomis, who documented the 1915 eruptions of Lassen Peak and helped create the park. It has exhibits on the eruptions and the park’s natural history, and it is a good starting point.
