Overview

Lassen Peak is the world’s largest plug dome volcano and the southernmost active volcano in the Cascade Range, at 10,457 feet, in Lassen Volcanic National Park. Its last major eruption was in 1915. The 5-mile round-trip trail from the parking area on Highway 89 climbs about 2,000 feet in switchbacks to a summit with wide views, and is usually snow-free from July to October. Altitude and afternoon storms require an early start.
