Overview
Nelson Rocks is a dramatic quartzite fin in Pendleton County, within the Spruce Knob-Seneca Rocks National Recreation Area of eastern West Virginia. It is home to NROCKS Outdoor Adventures and one of the few Via Ferrata routes in the U.S., where climbers ascend vertical rock faces on fixed cables and iron rungs, cross a 200-foot suspension bridge, and take in views of the North Fork Valley. A zipline canopy tour, guided hikes, and rustic lodging are also offered.
Things to Do
- Cross the Via Ferrata: a guided, protected climbing route hundreds of feet above the valley, with steel cables, ladders, and bridges
- Climb: guided experiences for a range of skill levels
- Enjoy the ridgeline views of the Allegheny Mountains and Monongahela National Forest
