Overview
Waterfront Park is an eight-acre park along about a half-mile of the Cooper River in Charleston, on a stretch that was once a hub of wharves and shipping terminals. It runs from Vendue Range to Adger's Wharf.
What to See
- Vendue Wharf: a wide wooden pier with sheltered swings and a floating dock with views of the Ravenel Bridge, Charleston Harbor, Castle Pinckney, the USS Yorktown, and Fort Sumter
- Pineapple Fountain: a pineapple-shaped fountain on an open lawn of palmettos in front of the City Gallery
- Oak-shaded benches along Concord and Prioleau Streets, and a 1,200-foot palmetto-lined esplanade along the water
- North Adger's Wharf: a rebuilt 17th-century pier at the park's southern edge, using the original granite recovered from the river
