How to Get There

Take I-75/I-85 to Freedom Parkway, turn onto Boulevard NE, then left onto Auburn Avenue NE to reach the site.

Overview

This modest two-story house, part of the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park, is where Dr. King was born in 1929 and lived until age twelve. The interior is currently closed for renovations, but the National Park Service still runs free, first-come-first-served ranger presentations daily in the adjacent bookstore covering the early influences that shaped him. Pair it with a visit to nearby Ebenezer Baptist Church and the King Center to round out the civil rights landmarks in the area.
