Overview

Shofuso (Pine Breeze Villa) is a traditional Japanese house and garden in West Fairmount Park, on the 1876 Centennial Exposition site. Built in 1953 as a gift from Japan symbolizing postwar friendship, using traditional techniques and imported materials, it was first shown at New York's MoMA and moved to Philadelphia in 1958. It is a nonprofit historic site open for visits and group tours.
