Overview

St. Patrick's Cathedral on Fifth Avenue is the seat of the Archbishop of New York and a working parish church, occupying a city block between 50th and 51st streets, opposite Rockefeller Center. Built from 1858 (dedicated May 25, 1879), it was designed by James Renwick Jr. in Gothic style with English, French, and German influences, clad in marble with dozens of stained-glass windows and bronze doors flanked by towers, 332 feet long and 174 feet wide at the transepts.
