Overview

The St. George Utah Temple is a striking white building against the red rock of southern Utah, dedicated in 1877 and the first LDS temple completed in Utah, and the oldest operating LDS temple. Pioneers built it with volcanic rock to stabilize the swampy ground and local sandstone, under Brigham Young. Only members can enter, but the visitors' center and grounds are open to all, with a free Christmas lights display.
