Overview
This Is the Place Heritage Park marks the spot at the mouth of Emigration Canyon where, on July 24, 1847, Brigham Young first saw the Salt Lake Valley. The park has a granite monument (1947) and a living-history village of restored pioneer buildings with costumed interpreters, train rides, and farm animals, open seasonally. Utah's Pioneer Day is celebrated here on July 24.
