Overview
Grand Lake is a small mountain town on the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park at 8,369 feet, established in 1881, and named for Colorado's largest and deepest natural lake, one of the headwaters of the Colorado River. Its western-style boardwalk has shops and restaurants, and the lake has boating and fishing. US 34 (Trail Ridge Road) goes 45 miles across the park to Estes Park from the town, and the park's Kawuneeche Visitor Center is near the town.
