Overview

The Crystal Mill (the Old Mill) is an 1892 wooden powerhouse perched on a rock outcrop above the Crystal River near the ghost town of Crystal, one of the most photographed old buildings in Colorado. It was built in 1893 by George Eaton and B. S. Phillips to power the Sheep Mountain Tunnel and Mining Company. The site is reached by a rough 4WD road from Marble, about 5 miles each way, by Jeep tour, ATV, mountain bike, or on foot. The mill is private property, so view it from the overlook.
