Overview

Lyell Canyon is a wide, flat subalpine meadow south of Tuolumne Meadows along the Lyell Fork of the Tuolumne River, an easy, scenic hike used by the John Muir Trail and Pacific Crest Trail. It offers mountain views, wildflowers and a waterfall, and continues about 8 miles to Donohue Pass. The canyon is named for the geologist Charles Lyell.
