Overview

Butte Lake in the northeast corner of Lassen Volcanic National Park sits at 6,053 feet beside Cinder Cone and the Fantastic Lava Beds, where lava from a 1666 eruption flowed. It has a campground and ranger station and is the trailhead for the Cinder Cone hike. The unpaved road from Route 44 closes seasonally.
