Overview

Dante’s View is a paved viewpoint at 5,476 feet on the Black Mountains crest, about 25 miles south of Furnace Creek, with a sweeping panorama nearly 5,500 feet above the salt flats of Badwater Basin, the lowest point in North America, and, across the valley, the Panamint Range and snow-capped Telescope Peak. Morning light is best, and the area is much cooler than the valley floor. A short trail leads along the ridge.
