Overview

Fort Mason is a former Army post on the San Francisco Bay waterfront in the Marina District, now a Golden Gate National Recreation Area center for arts and culture. The site was the main port of embarkation for the Pacific in World War II. Today the Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture holds theaters, museums such as the Museo ItaloAmericano, and Greens restaurant. It also has the Farmers’ Market and Friday Off the Grid food-truck night, and is a trailhead of the Bay Trail.
