Overview
San Jacinto Peak is a 10,834-foot summit in Mount San Jacinto State Park above Palm Springs, rising over 8,000 feet from the desert floor, one of the steepest escarpments in the contiguous U.S. John Muir wrote, “The view from San Jacinto is the most sublime spectacle to be found anywhere on this earth!” The summit is reached by hiking from the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway’s Mountain Station (about 11 miles round trip) or the very strenuous Cactus to Clouds Trail. A wilderness permit is required.
