Overview

Sand Dollar Beach is a half-mile crescent of sand on the southern Big Sur coast, one of the longest publicly accessible beaches in Big Sur, across Highway 1 from Plaskett Creek Campground. A short trail through Monterey pines leads to a grassy bluff and the beach, and there is a picnic area and restrooms. Swimming is unsafe because of rip currents, and it is popular for hiking and jade hunting.
