Overview

Historic St. John's Church is a simple wooden church built in 1741 on a rise above Richmond, where delegates to the Second Virginia Convention met in 1775 and Patrick Henry delivered his "Give me liberty, or give me death" speech. The intimate interior has pews worn by centuries of use, and the graveyard holds some of Richmond's earliest residents.
