How to Get There
From Ashland (12 mi): Take I-95 north to Exit 98, follow VA-30 west toward Doswell, turn onto Verdon Road, and continue to the park entrance and parking area.
Overview
North Anna Battlefield Park preserves 172 acres where Union and Confederate forces met in May 1864 during the Overland Campaign. Trails lead through well-preserved trenches, rifle pits, and earthworks that show Lee's clever "inverted V" defensive line, with markers explaining the two armies' movements along the North Anna River.
More than six miles of trails range from easy walks to steeper hills near the river, and the park is part of Virginia's Birding and Wildlife Trail.
