How to Get There

From Culpeper (10 mi): Take US-29 Business north toward Brandy Station, continue onto Beverly Ford Road and follow signs to the battlefield parking and trail areas.

Overview

Brandy Station Battlefield Park preserves the site of the largest cavalry battle ever fought in North America. On June 9, 1863, more than 20,000 Union and Confederate horsemen clashed across central Virginia during Lee's Gettysburg Campaign, and the battle showed the growing effectiveness of Union cavalry.

Interpretive signs and walking paths cross open fields and ridges, and preserved sections of Fleetwood Hill offer views of the Piedmont landscape much as the soldiers saw it.
