Overview
Gadsby's Tavern Museum preserves two connected 18th-century buildings — the 1785 tavern and the 1792 City Tavern and Hotel — where George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and John Adams once dined and danced. The restored ballroom hosted Washington's Birthnight Ball and Jefferson's Inaugural Banquet, and guided tours through the period rooms cover the tavern's namesake, English innkeeper John Gadsby, along with the revolutionary-era social and political life that revolved around it.
