Overview
Moores Creek National Battlefield preserves the site of a brief but decisive Revolutionary War battle fought February 27, 1776, when Patriot militia defeated a larger Loyalist force trying to link up with British operations on the coast. The victory disrupted British plans, weakened Loyalist influence, and set North Carolina on the path to independence.
