Overview
Averasboro Battlefield and Museum preserves the site of the Battle of Averasboro, fought March 15 and 16, 1865, when Confederate forces under General William J. Hardee delayed Sherman's much larger army. The withdrawal set the stage for the Battle of Bentonville days later.
