Overview
Celebration is a master-planned town near Walt Disney World, originally developed by Disney and connected to the resort via World Drive, which leads straight to the Magic Kingdom. Walkable, New Classical-style streets and a lakeside Town Center full of shops and restaurants give it the feel of a storybook small town — a pleasant, low-key stop if you want a break from the parks.
Disney broke ground on Celebration in 1996, building it out in phases starting with Celebration Village, West Village, and Lake Evalyn, and later adding North, South, and East Village. Disney divested most of its control of the town after founding it, though its DNA — planners consulted education and health leaders, and the town nods to Walt Disney's original vision for an Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow (EPCOT) — still shows in its design. Celebration Town Center holds the bulk of its shops and restaurants today.
