Overview
Memorial Park is one of the largest urban parks in the United States, covering roughly 1,466 acres mostly inside Houston's 610 Loop. Opened in 1924 on the site of the former Camp Logan World War I training camp, the park is dedicated to the memory of the soldiers who trained there, and Memorial Drive runs straight through it connecting downtown Houston to the 610 Loop. A 2018 gift of $70 million from the Kinder Foundation has funded major restoration and redevelopment of the grounds in recent years.
