Overview
The Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (CAMH) shows changing exhibitions of contemporary art rather than a permanent collection, so the galleries look different on nearly every visit. Its striking stainless-steel building, designed by Gunnar Birkerts, houses rotating shows spanning sculpture, painting, installation, and multimedia work.
Founded in 1948, CAMH gives both emerging and established artists a platform, often pairing early-career solo shows with major group exhibitions, plus artist talks and other events. Admission is free year-round.
