Overview
Stowe Mountain Resort is a major ski resort with two mountains, Mount Mansfield and Spruce Peak. Mount Mansfield has a lift-served vertical drop of 2,360 feet, the fifth largest in New England. About 116 trails cover 485 acres. The Civilian Conservation Corps cut the first ski trails here in 1933, and the Mount Mansfield Ski Patrol, founded in 1934, was the basis for the National Ski Patrol. A gondola runs in summer and fall for views.
