Overview

Hunter House (1748), in the Easton's Point neighborhood, is a Georgian mansion with a balustraded gambrel roof, built for Deputy Governor Jonathan Nichols Jr. The Preservation Society saved it from demolition in 1945. It displays furniture by Newport cabinetmakers Townsend and Goddard, a Gilbert Stuart painting, a restored 18th-century garden, and fine carved woodwork.
