Overview
The Municipal Fish Market at The Wharf is the oldest continuously operating open-air fish market in the United States, dating to 1805, on the Potomac River. Vendors on floating barges sell fresh and cooked seafood, including blue crabs, oysters, shrimp, and fish, as well as ready-to-eat fried seafood platters and clam chowder. It has been revitalized as part of The Wharf development with a restored oyster shed and new market hall.
