Overview

The Fort Duquesne site at the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers marks where the French built a stronghold in the mid-18th century. The original fort is gone, but its outline is marked in granite in Point State Park, with interpretive signs on its role in the French and Indian War and its replacement by Fort Pitt.
