Overview
The Duquesne Incline has carried passengers up Mount Washington since 1877, when it moved workers from the riverfront to their homes above. Restored wooden cable cars climb a steep 400-foot slope using original machinery, giving views of the skyline, rivers, and bridges, and at the top are a small museum and observation deck. The nonprofit Society for the Preservation of the Duquesne Heights Incline runs it, and it is one of the few inclines left in the U.S.
