From West Chester (6 mi): Take US-202 south toward Chadds Ford, connect to US-1 and Baltimore Pike, then follow signs to the visitor center and battlefield at 1491 Baltimore Pike.

Overview

Brandywine Battlefield Park in Chadds Ford preserves the landscape of the Battle of Brandywine (September 11, 1777), the largest land battle of the American Revolution, in which more than 30,000 troops fought as George Washington tried to block the British advance on Philadelphia. The visitor center and museum interpret the battle, and guided tours visit the Benjamin Ring House, Washington's headquarters during the fight, across rolling farm fields.
