Overview
Stony Point Battlefield State Historic Site preserves the location of General Anthony Wayne's daring bayonet assault on the night of July 15-16, 1779, which captured a heavily fortified British position above the Hudson in under an hour. A museum shows the battle and archaeological finds, and the site has living-history demonstrations and views of the Hudson Highlands. The Stony Point Lighthouse next door is the oldest on the Hudson River, in service from 1826 to 1925.
