Overview
Oriskany Battlefield State Historic Site preserves the ground where one of the most brutal engagements of the American Revolution erupted on August 6, 1777. As British forces and their allies besieged nearby Fort Stanwix, a column of patriot militia and Oneida warriors advanced to provide relief, only to be ambushed in a ravine near Oriskany Creek.
