From Bennington, Vermont (12 mi): Take VT-9 west into New York, continue on NY-67 toward Walloomsac, and follow the signs to the battlefield entrance at 5231 Route 67.

Overview

Bennington Battlefield State Historic Site preserves the ground of the August 16, 1777 battle, an important American victory fought mainly in New York despite the name of nearby Bennington, Vermont. General John Stark's New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Vermont militia defeated a British, Loyalist, and German force sent by General Burgoyne for supplies, weakening his army before Saratoga. A 2.7-mile trail system, monuments, interpretive signs, and overlooks cross rolling hills and fields.
