General Information
Cape May is located at the southern tip of Cape May Peninsula in New Jersey, where the Delaware Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean. It is one of the country's oldest vacation resort destinations. The entire city of Cape May is designated the Cape May Historic District, a National Historic Landmark due to its concentration of Victorian buildings - the second largest collection of such homes in the nation after San Francisco.
Cape May was recognized as one of America's top 10 beaches by the Travel Channel. It is also known as one of the best beaches on the Middle Atlantic coast.
Cape May is the southernmost point in New Jersey.[42] It is at approximately the same latitude as Washington, D.C. and Arlington, Virginia.
The economy of Cape May runs on the Washington Street Mall, with its numerous shops, restaurants, lodgings and tourist attractions as well as along the boardwalk and elsewhere throughout town. Many historic hotels and B&Bs dot the landscape.
