Overview

The Carillon Historical Park is a 65-acre open-air museum that celebrates Dayton’s pivotal contributions to innovation, industry, and American history. Anchored by the iconic Deeds Carillon, the park features more than 30 historic structures and exhibits, including the original 1905 Wright Flyer III, the first practical airplane. Visitors can explore a recreated 19th-century town, marvel at antique transportation vehicles, and experience hands-on learning through interactive science and engineering displays. The park also includes the Carillon Brewing Company, the only fully operational production brewery in a U.S. museum.

Founded through the vision of Colonel Edward Deeds and his wife Edith, the park opened in 1950 and has since grown into a premier destination for history lovers and families alike. Designed by the Olmsted Brothers, the landscape architects behind New York’s Central Park, the grounds offer a scenic and educational journey through time. Whether you're interested in aviation, innovation, or regional heritage, Carillon Historical Park offers a rich and immersive experience that highlights Dayton’s enduring legacy of progress.
