The Ledges Trail is one of the most iconic hikes in Cuyahoga Valley National Park, offering a dramatic journey through towering sandstone cliffs, narrow crevices, and moss-covered boulders. This 2.4-mile loop trail encircles a plateau of Sharon Conglomerate rock, shaped over millions of years by natural forces. Along the way, hikers encounter slot canyons, shaded forests, and the popular Ledges Overlook, which provides a panoramic view of the Cuyahoga Valley—especially stunning at sunset. The trail is moderately challenging, with rocky terrain and roots, making sturdy footwear essential.

Originally part of the Virginia Kendall Park, the Ledges area was developed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps and remains a favorite destination for both locals and visitors. Interpretive signs along the trail highlight the area's geological and cultural history, while nearby picnic shelters and restrooms make it a convenient stop for families. Open year-round, the trail offers a different experience in every season—from spring wildflowers and summer shade to vibrant fall foliage and serene winter landscapes. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or a curious explorer, the Ledges Trail promises a memorable adventure through one of Ohio’s most unique natural settings.
