Overview

Taft Point is a dramatic Yosemite overlook west of Glacier Point, with wide views of Yosemite Valley, El Capitan and Yosemite Falls, and a set of giant fissures in the granite that drop 2,000 feet to the valley floor. A moderate 2.2-mile round-trip hike from Glacier Point Road reaches it, and it was named for President William Howard Taft, who visited with John Muir in 1909.
