Overview
Ubehebe Crater is a half-mile-wide, up to 777-foot-deep volcanic crater in northern Death Valley, formed by a steam explosion when magma met groundwater a few thousand years ago. A short path leads to the rim, and trails circle it and descend to the bottom. It is the trailhead for more remote areas, including the Racetrack.
