Overview
Pier 39 is a busy waterfront shopping and entertainment complex at the edge of Fisherman’s Wharf, with shops, restaurants, street performers, the Aquarium of the Bay, 3D rides, a two-story carousel and a video arcade, and is best known for the California sea lions that have hauled out on its marina docks since 1989. Views take in Alcatraz, Angel Island, the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay Bridge, and Blue & Gold Fleet bay cruises leave from here. It is near North Beach, Chinatown and the Embarcadero.
