One-block-long alley that is home to the most concentrated collection of murals in the city of San Francisco
How to Get There
Overview
Balmy Alley is a one-block alley in San Francisco’s Mission District, between 24th Street and Garfield Square, with the city’s greatest concentration of murals, beginning with paintings in the 1970s and 1980s by Las Mujeres Muralistas and later artists. The colorful works address social and political themes, Latino culture and Central American solidarity. Visitors can walk it for free, and nearby are Clarion Alley and the Mission’s taquerías.
